The objective for English-Chinese Translation II is three-fold: 1. Picking up the unfinished task, the remaining translation skills to be taught will be covered in the first half of the semester. 2. Various Chinese Romanization systems will be introduced and compared. Students are required to familiarize themselves with the mainstream Hanyu Pinyin system of today. 3. Subtitle translation (subtitling) will be briefly introduced, covering its market in Taiwan, its characteristics and how it differs from the translation of general texts. Students will be equipped with the necessary skills to break into the subtitling market.
