    1. Outline: Course Introduction, Class policy, Musical elements (handout)

    2. Class Time table: Refresh (22 mins) TED talk (18 mins) Break (10 mins) Discussion (25 mins) Wrap-up (30 mins)

    3. Course Assessment Items: Attendance 20%, Group presentation 40%, Summaries (must turn in 8 out of 18 class meetings) 40%

    *Group presentation: 6-8 people each group, can pick any topics on music of your cultural roots

    *Attendance Policy: Please follow school's procedure of asking for leave of absence.

    Notice: Attendance is 20% of the course's final scores:

    0 absence = 100 points of this item, 1 absence = 20 point-deduction (including all types of leave), ...etc, 5 absences= 0 points of this item 

    *Summaries (must turn in 8 out of 18 class meetings) : Summaries are due by 10pm on the day of class, and ONLY be turned online to NPUST moodle by directly leaving it on the message board.

    Summary format: 1. Ted talk  2.DIscussions 3. any other reflections 

    Each Summary: should contains no less than 200 words, or can be organized in a chart or a form by carefully designed. It must be written in English.
