This course introduces the common disability groups in horticultural therapy with their characteristics and considerations, as well as the horticultural therapy techniques used to ensure maximum participant engagement and the achievement of therapeutic goals. These techniques include effective communication methods, consideration of clients' psychosocial ecosystems, leadership styles in horticultural therapy groups, and task analysis of horticultural therapy activities. It also covers the selection and adaptation of horticultural tools and tasks based on the service population's needs. The course concludes with an explanation of the American Horticultural Therapy Association's standards of practice for horticultural therapy and the core ethical principles for professional horticultural therapists.
