本課程之目的在介紹動物族群生態之重要理論模式，尤其針對在野生動物保育管理之應用。主題涵蓋族群之成長模式(density-independent and density-dependent growth models)、隨機模式(stochastic model)、年齡結構距陣模式(age-structured matrix models)、生命表(life table)、空間結構與關聯族群(spatial structure and metapopulations)、族群擴散(dispersal)、棲地選擇(habitat selection and source-sink dynamics)、競爭模式(competition models)、捕食模式(predator-prey model)、族群利用(population harvesting)等。
