Dynamic and dialectic conversational approach features in this course. Dialogue (person to person) dominates this course. Throughout student study time, stress on conversation is located at three structured levels, (a) as a passive, submissive follower/listener of conversation, (b) as pro-active, co-operative participant with others, and finally, (c) as leading a conversation, initiating, by taking authority for the direction of discussion, orchestrating, conducting, directing, and closing engagement in discussion. Content includes new vocabulary previews, new pronunciation and listening activities, feature articles, cross-cultural topics, the felicity (ease or fluency) of language inter-action in role-playing. Content and learning-method reflect the most recent of research findings in the advancement of teaching the craft and art of engaging in and promoting conversation.
