課程大綱Course Description：

本課程為介紹土壤分類及應力、水力、變形與強度等性質，以使學習者對土壤之工程特性有完整認識，而後再加介紹及其與一般擋土工程之相互作用關係，本課程為土壤與大地工程設計之基本課程。接續課程為基礎工程，將進一步介紹開挖、邊坡穩定、基礎設計、基地探查技術等。

English Outline：

The course will detail focus on the structures, basic mechanic characters, and the behavior of soil. To make the students understand the basic character of soil mechanics in civil engineering\'s, the course contains (1)formation and structure of soil, (2)basic mechanic properties of soil, (3)soil classification, (4)constituent of clay minerals, (5) seepage flow in soil, (6)effective stresses in soil, (7)consolidation of soil, (8)compassion of soil, (9)shear strength and yielding theory of soil, and (10)lateral earth pressure and its balance.
