課程大綱Course Description：

本課程介紹木材的結構及鑑別。此課程可作為以木材為材料的研究基礎，並為學生準備未來關於木材的性質、用途及加工的課程做好準備。該課程介紹了基本的樹木生長和木材形成，詳細介紹了闊葉樹材和針葉樹材的巨觀和微觀解剖結構。亦介紹木材細胞類型、組織及變異，進而討論木材品質的概念和含義。在實際操作部分將包括闊葉樹材和針葉樹材的巨觀和微觀鑑別。 在商用木材方面，課程包含世界森林資源之現況與展望、台灣產之重要商用木材、東南亞森林資源、俄國森林資源、美洲森林資源及澳洲森林資源，培養學生對於木材市場的基礎觀念。

English Outline：

This course provides the introduction to the structure and identification of wood. This foundation is fundamental to the study of wood as a material and prepares the student for future courses dealing with the properties, uses and processing of wood. The course introduces basic tree growth and wood formation, detailing both the macroscopic and microscopic anatomy of hardwoods and softwoods. Cell types, their organization and variations are discussed. Concepts and implications of wood quality are discussed. The laboratories cover the macroscopic and microscopic identification of hardwoods and softwoods. In economical timber, the course covers the current state and outlook of the world's forest resources, important economical timber produced in Taiwan, forest resources in Southeast Asia, Russian forest resources, forest resources in the Americas and Australian forest resources to foster students' basic concepts of the timber market.

本科目教學目標Course Objectives：

配合社會環境變遷及產業發展脈動，強化優質綠環境與生態材料－木質資源材料之物理及化學利用技術之改良與運用，及其應用於與吾人生活環境息息相關之木建築結構設計、空間設計、家具設計、生活產品設計與木竹籐工藝設計等之教學，落實學生實習操作及實務技巧，培育「適才適用」之木質資源材料性質與加工之基礎理論，並結合科學理論與文化內涵於設計創作實務之運用能力，以達技術職業教育之目標。 大學部：訓練學生具備林產加工利用及其設計理論與實務技術，培育兼具中、小型企業經營及國際化理念之人才。
