課程大綱Course Description:
本課程介紹園藝治療常見的disability groups, characteristics and considerations以及服務這些團體時會使用到的園藝治療技術,以確保參與者能有最大的參與與符合治療目標的效益。這些技術包括有效溝通方式、服務對象的心理生態系統考量、園藝治療團體領導風格、園藝治療活動任務分析,並依服務對象所需選擇和調適園藝的工具與任務。課程最後說明美國園藝治療協會的園藝治療實施標準與園藝治療師專業倫理核心準則。
English Outline:
This course introduces the common disability groups in horticultural therapy with their characteristics and considerations, as well as the horticultural therapy techniques used to ensure maximum participant engagement and the achievement of therapeutic goals. These techniques include effective communication methods, consideration of clients' psychosocial ecosystems, leadership styles in horticultural therapy groups, and task analysis of horticultural therapy activities. It also covers the selection and adaptation of horticultural tools and tasks based on the service population's needs. The course concludes with an explanation of the American Horticultural Therapy Association's standards of practice for horticultural therapy and the core ethical principles for professional horticultural therapists.
本科目教學目標Course Objectives:
1.瞭解園藝治療常見障礙族群(people with憂鬱症、躁鬱症、思覺失調症、PTSD、AD/HD、脊髓損傷、腦性麻痺、視覺障礙、智能障礙、自閉症、唐氏症、學習障礙、癌症、失智症、中風, etc.)的身心特性與考量事項。
2.描述個案的社會生態系統
3.使用有效的溝通方法與個案互動
4.瞭解不同的團體領導風格並能運用於不同的服務情境中
5.在園藝治療方案中運用適當的植物材料
6.執行任務分析、選擇和調適園藝的材料、工具與設施設備
7.瞭解並遵循美國園藝治療協會制定之園藝治療實施標準與專業倫理核心準則。

Upon completing the course, students will be able to:
1. Understand the physical, psychological, cognitive, and social characteristics and considerations of common disability groups in horticultural therapy (including people with depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, AD/HD, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, visual impairments, intellectual disabilities, autism, Down syndrome, learning disabilities, cancer, dementia, stroke, etc.).
2. Describe the client’s ecological system.
3. Use effective communication skills to interact with clients.
4. Understand and appropriately apply different group leadership styles in various service settings
5. Using appropriate plant materials for horticultural therapy programs
6. Perform task analysis and select and adapt horticultural materials, tools, equipment, and devices.
7. Learn and adhere to the standards of practice and core ethical principles established by the American Horticultural Therapy Association.
