The significance of rural communities in attaining sustainable development cannot be overstated, as rural industries, communities, and the environment contribute significantly to sustainable development and environmental change. This course centers on the development of rural communities and provides a comparative analysis of rural issues in developed and developing countries, with an emphasis on discussing the sustainable development of rural communities. The course is organized into four chapters, including an introductory section that seeks to enhance students' comprehension of the concepts and changes in rural sociology, an industry section that introduces rural industries, technology, and globalization, a community section that introduces rural populations and organizations, women, education, and social welfare, and an environmental section that focuses on planning and designing rural communities. By incorporating selected literature, case studies, and field trips, the course aims to broaden students' perspectives on sustainable rural development while fostering an entrepreneurial attitude among rural social entrepreneurs.
