課程大綱Course Description：

本課程旨在使學生經由聽、說、讀、寫四種語言學習方式瞭解政治的、經濟的、教育的、文化的、娛樂的等時事，提升英文閱讀能力，並透過文章分析來提升學生的文法句型結構以及英文字彙能力。學生透過精讀各種領域的文章，以拓展知識範疇。並藉由英文報章雜誌的閱讀，讓學生不只加強英文能力，還能夠吸收各種國際相關議題資訊。透過本課程，學生不但可增進英語能力亦可瞭解周遭之時事。

English Outline：

This course explores important and timely issues that happened over the world, including political, economical, and even entertainment news. The course essentially uses readings and discussion to explore the course topics. The instructional materials for News English class are textbooks, English newspapers, and/or magazines. Students will use audiocassette, CD-ROM, electronic mail, and World Wide Web resources in the class. The use of audio cassette and CD-ROM focuses students’ learning on listening practice; the World Wide Web news searching provides training on reading skill; and the electronic email discussion with students in other schools encourages students to express their ideas through writing.
