課程大綱Course Description:
人類居住在地球上,為了生活空間需求,從穴居進展至高樓大廈,從山上一直到海邊。為了交通需求,克服天然屏障,興建了大橋,也挖掘了隧道。為了使用能源,由地表直至地底深層,使用各種工程方法取得能源以及輸送能源。地球的環境變遷,如地?板塊移動、火山爆發、狂風暴雨、山崩地裂,造成之力量非常巨大,威脅人類安身立命之棲息地,建築物保護人類生命財產的安全,但是巨大的建築工程是否會威脅基礎之安全,防災、避災措施更應深思。本課程旨在喚起學生尊重大自然的態度,改變長久以來『人定勝天』的觀念,『人須順天』方可遠離災害。人類利用各種新科技,不應傷害地球,是要保護地球。
English Outline:
On the Earth, human beings through out the whole history expand their living territory, from cave to skyscraper, and from top of mountains to the sea, for their survival. Bridges and tunnels are built to conquer the barricade of nature to connect area occupied by human beings. Energy resources are excavated from surface down to depths of the Earth and transported every corner on the world by using engineering strategies.
Erratic changes of the environment, caused by plate movement, volcano eruption, storms, landslides, always end up with tragic aftermath and threaten human habitation surrounding. Buildings could protect human beings but gigantic and massive buildings also challenge the safety of surrounding environment. The disaster prevention measurements and considerations should be the main topics in generations.
The course would try to arouse the students to respect our Earth. To stay away from disasters, human beings should change their thought from “people could conquer the nature” to “people should obey the nature.” New technologies used by people should be used to protect rather than hurt the Earth.
