課程大綱Course Description：

這門課幫助學生學習英語基礎字彙（尤其針對多益字彙），並培養自我學習的能力，將從三方面來達成目標： （一）學生從每週的選文中學習單字的意義與用法，並練習從上下文中猜測字義。此不僅增加學生的字彙量，亦增進學生的閱讀技能。 （二）在課堂中，學生將練習如何運用不同的策略與技巧來記憶單字，例如：故事寫作、造句、語音表意等，並建立對於重要字首、字根、字尾的觀念。 （三）學生學習如何應用App軟體更有效率地查詢與複習生詞。 期望學生在修習完此門課後，能培養對於字彙的興趣與獨立學習的能力。

English Outline：

The aim of this course is to help students learn basic English vocabulary (especially TOEIC vocabulary) and develop their self-learning ability. It will be achieved by the following three aspects: (1) Students will learn the meaning and usage of words from weekly readings and practice guessing the meaning of words in context. This will not only increase their vocabulary, but also improve their reading skills. (2) In class, students will practice how to employ different strategies and skills to memorize words, such as story writing, sentence making, sound symbolism, etc., and build their recognition of important prefixes, word roots, and suffixes. (3) Students will learn how to use apps to look up and review new vocabulary in a more efficient way. It is hoped that students will develop their interest in vocabulary and independent study ability after taking this course.
