This course serves two goals. It introduces the evolution of manufacturing systems, highlights the characteristics of various systems, and discusses the applications of them. Additionally, it covers the evolution of the control architectures of manufacturing systems. Students who enroll in this course are expected to have an in-depth understanding of the nature of manufacturing systems, how to apply them to various productions, and how to establish an appropriate control system to ensure the manufacturing activities are well under controlled.
