The main aim of this course will lie on the fundamental ideas of contemporary social welfare system, its political, economic, historical and social background, and its relationship with social policy-making processes particularly in industrialised countries in the West. For this purpose, this course will start with the discussion about the relation among social problems, social advocacy, social legislation and social administration as well as the introduction to the development of social welfare administration in the world, Taiwan, and selected countries. The course will then concentrate on the administration of social welfare programmes. Therefore, the theories of social welfare administration, the design of social welfare administration, the leadership and encouragement of social welfare administration, the management of social welfare administration, the human resources of social welfare administration, the control of social welfare administration, and the privatisation and partnership of social welfare administration. Lectures, discussions and sharing of experiences held by the lecturer and professionals in specific areas of social welfare administration as well as course works related to the topics are the ways that this course goes.
