The purpose of this course is to explore the methods, implementation and application of observation and recording the development of young children in an early childhood classroom setting. The main topics include principles and ethics of observation, methods, such as specimen records, time sampling, event sampling, anecdotal records, diary records, and check lists. It also covers the reliability and validity of assessment, and interpretation and communication of observation.
