Dynamic and dialectic conversational approaches feature in the course. While dialogue (person to person) dominates the course, monologue (individual delivery) is also encouraged. Throughout the class, stress on conversation is located at three structured levels, (a) as a passive, submissive follower/listener of conversation, (b) as pro-active, co-operative participant with others, and finally, (c) as leading a conversation, initiating, by taking authority for the direction of discussion, orchestrating, conducting, directing, and closing engagement in discussion. Content includes new vocabulary, daily life topics, and the felicity (ease or fluency) of language interaction in role-playing.
