The purpose of this course is to help students understand:Individual human behavior: the growth and development process. How social culture, family psycho-dynamics’ and individual mentality affect an individual’s behavior and how these factors interact with each other. How an individual adapts his/her self during the growing process in relation to the changing demands of others and the pressure of society as a whole. Course Contents: Examine every stage and general life span development of human behavior based on perspectives from physical, cognitive and psychosocial forces. Understand various kinds of social structures and organizations and the development of human behavior within these social organizations. Social organizations include family, community, school, occupation and work places, social groups and cultures. Discuss normal and abnormal behavior within the life span development and their impacts on society. The teaching method places equal emphasis on lectures as well as discussions. Students will conduct on-site observation projects and interviews in small groups as well as writing reports and classroom presentation.
