The objective of this course is to introduce the idea and the methodology of the agroforestry. Agroforestry is a land-use system, practice or technology, where woody perennials are integrated with agricultural crops and/or animals in the same land management unit. Topics covered are agroforestry definition and classification, agricultural components of agroforestry systems, biophysical principles and interactions, livelihood and land use analysis, food security and environmental resilience, agroforestry and conservation, and case studies of specific agroforestry systems. The teaching and learning strategy includes lectures, case studies and group discussion.
