This course introduces the physical and psychological characteristics and safety issues of the groups commonly served by horticultural therapy, and discusses the types of rehabilitative programs (physiological, cognitive, psychosocial, and vocational training) that horticultural therapy served. The effective communication methods during the horticultural therapy service process, the psychological and ecological considerations of the clients, different leadership styles of the horticultural therapy group, task analysis of horticultural therapy activities, and how to select and modify gardening tools will also be discussed in this class. The course will conclude with an introduction to professional ethics in horticultural therapy.
